And how do you deal with it? Writer's block can happen at any time but it often sets in after being stuck on one piece of writing for too long without making any progress. Maybe you've written yourself into a corner, perhaps you're unsure how to continue or maybe what you thought was brilliant, isn't. If it's the latter, maybe it's time to set the writing aside for a while and try something else. Whatever the reason, don't let writer's block get the better of you. Try these 6 strategies for fighting writer's block and getting your writing mojo back:- 1) Force yourself to write something - anything - just get your brain moving again. It doesn't have to be good; in fact, in most cases it probably won't be. Don't worry about it. Just get your mind focused on what you're writing and get it down onto paper. See what you can do to get the ball rolling again and keep going. 2) Talk about what's bothering you with someone who knows and understands your situation, such as a spouse or a good friend who once did something similar and was able to overcome the problem. They might be able to offer advice and suggestions on how they got their writing mojo back or they might not be familiar with your situation but they will definitely show some support which is always needed when dealing with writer's block. 3) Take a break and do something else. Go on a walk, do some small tasks around the house or try doing some of that that you've been putting off all week; it's likely that your writing mojo will return once you take action on something different. 4) Set deadlines for yourself and stick to them like glue. Look at how long it normally takes you to write a piece of writing and make a note of how many days or weeks you need to complete this piece of writing if it's not going to be completed today. Then set your target for how much longer until you can achieve this goal. 5) Start with the most difficult part of the writing first. If there's one area that's really bugging you, tackle it first and get it out of the way. 6) Read the writing out loud. Sometimes hearing your writing out loud can help you focus on what isn't working or will help you figure out what needs to happen next. Try reading your writing aloud to yourself or someone else willing to listen and see if it doesn't make a difference. eccc085e13
